APHA has announced a day-long workshop on how to evaluate public health programs given by Michael Kogan from HRSA and Mary Beth Zeni at Ursuline College. This workshop will be before the APHA conference on Saturday, November 4th from 9:00am-5:00pm. It has a Pre-Conference LI Fee of $300 and will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The Mountain States Regional Health Equity Council (RHEC) is hosting a webinar training series covering the history of tribes and treaties, utilization of the National Standards of Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS), the impact of cultural needs assessments, and cultural sensitivity when working with tribal communities. With a goal of ending health disparities in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Utah, a large priority is placed on providing education and awareness of cultural and linguistic competency within the region.

Transportation for America is still accepting applications for its new Smart City Collaborative with Sidewalk Labs. The collaborative seeks to help a small group of ambitious cities use technology to address their pressing transportation challenges. While they are working on putting a finger on what a smart city is and what it means to be one, they encourage cities to complete a survey regarding the “State of the Smart City” even if they do not plan to apply.
