Obesity affects 36% of women of childbearing age. Obesity can make conception difficult as well as cause problems during labor and delivery. Some examples of problems are gestational diabetes, miscarriage, premature birth, emergency C-section and others. A recently published study found that slight increases in a woman’s pre-pregnancy weight increased risks of fetal death, stillbirth and infant death.
