The Society for Public Health Education has issued a Call for Public Comments on Draft School Health Educator Preparation Standards. These preparation standards are intended to serve as expectations for individuals graduating from a college or university prepared to teach health education at the K-12 level(s). The deadline for comments is March 15th.
The Community Preventive Services Task Force, "recommends full-day Kindergarten programs to improve the health prospects of low-income and racial and ethnic minority children, based on strong evidence that full-day programs substantially improve reading and mathematice achievement-determinants of long-term academic and health-related outcomes-when compared with half-day kindergarten or full-day kindergarten on alternating days."
