The American Hospital Association has published a new report, The Leadership Role of Nonprofit Health Systems in Improving Community Health. This report, a part of the Advances in Health Care Governance Series, advocates for hospitals to take on leadership in community health and recognizes the value of participation in multi-sector partnerships. It provides recommendations for consideration by health system governing boards and executive leadership teams.
The national BUILD Health Challenge will fund innovative community & hospital collaborations to catalyze health communities. The jointly funded effort will give two kinds of awards – planning and implementation awards – to strengthen partnerships among hospitals, nonprofits, local health departments, and other community organizations to improve the health of low-income neighborhoods within cities with populations greater than 150,000.
