APHA 2017 Preconference Workshop

APHA has announced a day-long workshop on how to evaluate public health programs given by Michael Kogan from HRSA and Mary Beth Zeni at Ursuline College. This workshop will be before the APHA conference on Saturday, November 4th from 9:00am-5:00pm. It has a Pre-Conference LI Fee of $300 and will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center.

According to the Collaborative for Effective Prescription Opioid Policies, last week "President Trump's Commission on Combatting Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis held a teleconference to discuss the Opioid Commission's work and included participants from nine national non-profit organizations as well senior members of the Trump administration.” This comes after President Donald Trump’s Executive Order in March. Any member of the public can submit comments for the Commission’s consideration via email at commission@ondcp.eop.gov.

CDC has resumed reporting outcomes for pregnancies with laboratory evidence of possible Zika virus infection in the US territories and freely associated states. The data are from the Zika Pregnancy and Infant Registries, which include all US states, territories, and freely associated states.

CDC’s Review to Action Website Promotes Range of Resources to Support Maternal Mortality Review Committees

The CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health has released the Review to Action website. This website promotes the state-based maternal mortality review process as “the best way to measure and reduce pregnancy-related deaths”. While serving as a resource for best practices in maternal mortality review, the website also supports the translation of findings into action.
